An old friend revisited

Post by DaveB »

Hi Guy's :)

I was sat here at a loose end, wondering what to do and thought 'I know.. I'll get my rating back on an old friend of mine.. the Viking' ;)

Image

I just love it  It's not pretty, it's certainly not fast (although it could show a DC3 a clean pair of heels) but I love it to bits. Add Garry's set of paints and this old lady will keep me going for many years to come ;)

Lovely clean and crisp capture of the aircraft.

Get to the opticians Ben.. it's FS9

I couldn't have real weather on for the flight as you all know how lovely it was here 8) Anyway.. I wanted to show the subject, not the weather ;) I've not long crossed the south coast enroute to Dinard from Manchester at a leisurely 4000ft. I'd forgotten just how expensive fuel is at Dinard on the VA.. wish I'd have taken more cheap stuff from Manchester

Garry did a good 90% of the paints for our VA fleet and many are different which makes flying the Viking even more rewarding. They're still available for everyone to enjoy ;)

I haven't got this one Dave, not sure why because I have always liked the look of this..'tubby little airliner' a phrase used in a publication many years ago from 'Hippo' books I think. What is the soundset like? :) EricT

Hello Mate :hello:

The default defaults to the DC3 but there are any number of soundsets available which will do. Gary Jones did a smashing set which go particularly well with any large pair of Bristols.. these are the ones I use :) They're available at the Pond.. and while I'm here, they go very nicely with Garry's B170. I have the Viking aliased to the 170 ;)

The way my ears are working at the moment, I listen to myself most of the time anyway. Still.. it'd certainly do no harm

I always saw The 748 as a modern day Viking rather than a Dak replacement

Guess it just the sturdy workaday look of it.
