Hi all,
I recently started flying overseas again (i.e. to and from the UK), only to find that some airports out there seem to've disappeared since I last visited them (weeks if not months ago)...!!
So far, the areas I've found to be affected are Spain (much if not most if not all of it), Italy (not all of it) and some of (if not many or all) the airports along the Mediterranean coast of Africa. Both default and custom airports seem to be affected. France and Greece seem to be intact.
I can't think of anything I might've installed etc that could have such a widespread effect.
Does anyone recognise this and have advice or a solution -- other than the dreaded "reinstall the whole thing from scratch" -- please..?
Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully,
David

Sorry I missed this
Sounds like certain folders are corrupted if they are in groups.
You should be able to reload FS as a repair...that is re install the programme leaving your addons intact.
I think one of the option on uninstalling is to leave addons in place.
Copy for CFG first and keep that safe as any reinstalling of the main programme will send those setting back to default and you can use parts of the CFG perhaps all of it to restore that.
If you decide to do this cjeck the options they should be clear, but hopefully you can do something without having to re do everything.

Thanks for the reply, Garry -- I forgot that programs' installers can offer a repair option (although whether or not it will work...!). I suppose I'd need to reinstall the custom airports I have for the areas affected (not sure how many or how far) afterward.
I've been thinking again, though, of taking the big breath and trying to install and run FSX with Windows XP 64-bit (I have a copy but don't use it) to see if it runs and uses memory more effectively, etc, especially if I decide to get FSX Acceleration to enable me to use Robert Richardson's aircraft properly. But, from my internet researches, I just haven't been able to sort out whether or not it's worth the effort.
So, right now, I'm simply avoiding those airports I find have disappeared -- fortunately, none in the UK seem to be affected -- but I suppose that sooner or later, I'll need to make a decision...
Thanks,
David

Hi David,
You'll find XP64bit fairly limiting as it doesnt have much of the inteligence that was built into later version of the 64bit OS to allow programs written for 32bit to run properly. I'd suggest it would be a lot of effort for something that would need to be redone with Vista x64 or Windows 7 x64 soon rather than later.

Re: Airports have disappeared...!!
Thanks, Ben -- so, perhaps I should find a second-hand copy of Vista (or even Windows 7) 64-bit and then try an all-new FSX + Acceleration + bits installation...
Off to see what eBay has to offer,

I'd not look for Vista David.. despite early enthusiasm, it turned out to be the FS2000 of the OS world
If you're gonna move up, you may as well go to Win7 and miss Vista out completely.

Ahh, yes -- thanks -- I remember reading as much not so long ago... maybe even here somewhere. Just need to start putting the pennies to one side now.
