Suspicious Fuel

Post by Vc Ten »

Just been flagged on suspicious fuel on a Dragon Rapide flight from Birmingam to Gloucester
Just tried the model again in free flight and yes no fuel use Checked the settings menu and found to be set for unlimited fuel  Explains that then, but had several flights in 748 and one this morning on the Dragon since Hard drive upgrade and FSX reinstall and fueling up till now has been fine The odd thing that ive found is that when I deselected unlimited fuel I couldnt start the engine for the dragon from the cockpit controls ( had to use ctrl+e ) but trying with unlimited fuel on again the engine start on the button :wall: Now back to unlimited off Will see if it selects itself again or if its been on since reinstall. What happens with FSA? :S

Hmm.. an odd one for sure. I have no difficulty with the Rapide in FS9 or FSX (and in FSX using either the FS9 - v2 - or native v3 model) and I DO use them on every flight *-) Have you recently remade your FSX cfg file for some reason? This would account for it defaulting to unlimited. I remember occasions of this happening over the years but thankfully, they're not frequent. Let's see what the mods at FSA decide.

Hi Dale

Just had a look, yes fuel use of 0 kg is suspicious all right.
At least we know why.

Our own stats pages automatically mark up suspicious fuel use. The marked flights then don't get included whenever averages are calculated.

I'm not sure what happens with FSA. They may mark the flight as having used a fuel cheat.
Let us know if you find out! ;)
At some point they had people using tricks to get themselves or their airline to win the monthly awards etc.
We don't compete for the awards over there any more, so don't worry about it.

Once it's flagged, as long as no blatant cheating occurred, the flight just has the fuel recalculated and everyone moves on. No penalty to anyone.

Also, with FSX, if you're not running it as an administrator, it sometimes causes SimConnect to not report fuel usage. It seems to be something of a "feature" by Microsoft, but using FSUIPC4 or making sure you run FSX as an administrator seems to fix it. Having "Unlimited Fuel" checked however is a "no-no" as if you fly past your fuel capacity, it'll not only cause a suspicious fuel mark, but it'll likely kick you out of your flight before you finish it (i.e. not give you credit) because of it.

Had a mail from FSA to sort out problem but no action this time :)
I had the unlimited fuel ticked when I checked after having the flight flaged. I must have left it that way after the reinstall
What I dont understand are the 3 flights in 748 and 1 other flight in DH89 that wernt affected (unlimited fuel must still have been ticked on those also. 8)
My default startup a/c is DC3 Ive foung that if I leave the fuel switched on but mags off and save as default flight Then change to DH89 the engines start on the button Also both tanks seem to empty together, which gets round the problem I had before

Hi Dale :)

Tks for that ;) The guys over at FSA aren't there to beat us mercilessly.. thank goodness

Interesting that your Rapide works ok with the default flight aircraft a DC3 *-) I start all my flights with the default Cessna regarless of if I'm flying a Rapide or a 747 in FS9 but I don't fly anything near as taxing as a 747 in FSX.. basically the Rapide and the F1 Islander! Glad it's sorted your problem but I wish I knew why you were having it in the first place :dunno:
