FS9 problem

Post by ajb »

I think I've done something really stupid to my FS9 installation :$ Due to a Windows XP crash I have reinstalled everything recently along with a fresh installation of FS9. So far so good and all was running well. I then added some of my extras to FS9, like Scotflight, UK North landclass, the BAC111s, 748s, Dreamfleet Piper Dakota, etc. Still no problems and everything running perfectly. Until today! Enthused by the fresh FS9 working so well I added a load more aircraft, scenery and other stuff (fonts, FSUIPC, and so on). Happy as Larry (whoever he is) I fired up the sim only to find that most panels that have digital data - like the Cessna radios - have no digits any more :-O :-O When I shut the sim I get an error from the RXPSRV.DLL, which is part of the Dreamfleet stuff. Doesn't help if I remove that module - no crash but still no digits. I've buggered up something but I haven't a clue what. Any ideas chaps or is it uninstall FS9 and then reinstall? :help:

Why don't you try deleting the dreamflight programmes using the add/remove programs facility in control panel ? Also, I should just delete fs9.cfg from your fs9 directory ( or wherever it is situated, usually c:\documents and settings \ etc) ) - it will regenerate on your next fs9 startup

Hi and thanks for the reply. Having had the PC switched off then re-booted the problem went away :-O However I have managed to trace the main problem down to a dll which RealityXP gauges all seem to use, rxpsrv.dll. The disappearing digits problem has gone away now so that must just have been a temporary glitch. In fact no FS9 close crashes occur if I fly any aircraft that do not use ReatlityXP gauges. Furthermore there seems to be no ill effects now even if close crashes have occurred. I'm mystified but no longer concerned unless something else untowards happens.

Odd one that Andy, I thought it may have been a font issue as you stated you had installed fonts? But if its working leave well alone :)
