One for Chris Trott.. SimonD suspicious fuel

Post by DaveB »

Hi Chris..

I noted yesterday that Simon Dix had got a flight flagged with suspicious fuel.. his fuel brought, takeoff fuel, land fuel, shutdown fuel all read the same. I've asked him what might have happened and to his shock, unlimited fuel was ticked! He knows he's not ticked it so how it got to that state is a mystery. He has since unticked the option but is waiting to see the outcome of the FSA mods decision. He's quite willing to run the flight again should you wish to delete that flight and I'm certain the unlimited fuel 'tick' wasn't intentional ;)

Not unrelated.. I had a disaster on Sunday having tried to install UK2000LHR v2 and got a 'corrupt or missing scenery.cfg.. please reinstall FS' message. I got the sim back after some judicious renaming of old files and made a new FS9.cfg just to be on the safe side. Having readjusted the screen res and all the other things you do, I did the flight LEPA-EGNX but noticed when I shutdown at EMids, the screen help message 'Your engines are stopped.. press 'this' to start.. press 'this' to do whatever' so went to disable that option and found to my horror that unlimited fuel, autorudder, automixture e t c were all ticked as I'd not checked them after the cfg remake. However, I burned fuel on the trip and FSA logged it correctly. I honestly don't know why that should be :dunno: It doesn't matter much as I unticked the option there and then but for some reason, Simon didn't remake the option but got pinged. It could be that my FSUIPC (which I'm sure has the auto refuel option unticked) is setup differently to Simon's.

Dave -

The "unlimited fuel" I'm pretty sure just got recalculated and then we moved on. Unless someone has multiple infractions, we usually don't mark it as "cheated" and assume it was a mistake so we don't penalize them beyond adjusting the fuel usage to the average for that length of flight.

FSUIPC could have an effect, but also I've found that some planes still burn off their fuel and then run happily along with no fuel in the tanks while others don't burn an ounce, so it may be something in the way they're designed that changes how unlimited fuel affects the sim. The "Realism" setting bar may also have an effect on this. I've never really looked fully into it.
