Transparent textures

Post by GaryJ »

Hi Chaps, I just installed some textures for my Saab 340 to find the whole aircraft transparent at night :help:
I have the dxtbmp util, can i use that to fix anything?

Hi Gary :hello:

Transparent at night points to there being no night textures (_L.bmp). Hopefully, the model will be mapped correctly so it could just be the person who did the paint didn't realise the earth goes dark at certain times throughout a 24hr period :)

On a similar note, on my current system some views of the Alphasim Halton show look-through engines and on some other models fine detail like tailwheels, radio wires etc. pop in and out of view if you scan round an external view. I'm assuming it could be down to a less than brilliant video card. It's twice the memory of the one in my old PC but not too clever in performance.

I'm waiting a few months before suggesting an upgrade to SWMBO after getting the PC just before Christmas.

I don't know about the Halton but sometimes there are odd bits transparent because there is a night map missing from one of the maps

Sometimes.....like the Viscount for example..... the night texture type was changed so if you run older paints on the newer model or newer paints on the older moel there is a transparent problem. :worried:

8)

I didn't release the model mate

when FS9 came along _LM was for scenery only unlike FS8
_L took it's place

Hi Rick

It's models you released

The earlier V800 used _LM

The later V800 with opening door uses _L

That is what I'm talking about. ;)

the _L textures went into the FS9/texture folder

but not many people will use installers so they ended up with no nightlighting.

Original file had the _L textures

files here have been replaced a few times and not ness the correct files

Rick
