An American at Duxford via Germany

Post by hobby »

Can anyone please tell me the real life clean and 'all down' stalling speeds of the NA OV10A Bronco?

These speeds do not seem to be posted on any of the excellent websites dealing with this aircraft and its operations in Vietnam.

Pity 'Jane's AWA' data is not available on the www, but understandable because Jane's want to sell their excellent reference books.

I saw one of those fly out of Duxford a few weeks back. Never thought I would see a Bronco in the air just down the road. :)

Can't help you with the info you need , however. :S

Many thanks to the forum members who contributed.

Flight International Archives were very interesting but no sign of those stalling speeds.

The above archives are quite extraordinary in their scope and detail and very worthwhile examining for any aeronautical subject.

Many thanks for the pointer.

Hi Hobby -
I had a trawl around the 'Net yesterday, and found only two references, one to 55mph and another to 70kts. These were on multiple sites and obviously copied from one another. I also searched on 'calculate stalling speed' and found a splendidly erudite discourse on how to do that from basic principles :help:
The search also turned up a software calculator or two, but they seemed to be for establishing stalling speeds at various weights, starting from a known speed at a particular weight.
Must say I was surprised not to find even a range of stalling speeds mentioned - there would have been a lot of variation depending on what combination of equipment was loaded. Maybe the practice was to fly to the MTOW numbers, for simplicity and safety? (not much help if you are building an FDE)

You could get the flight manual from here http://www.eflightmanuals.com/search/searchResults.asp or http://www.flight-manuals-on-cd.com/

Which might have some useful figures.
