Simshed Wessex

Post by baz »

Hi,

New to the forum & looking for a little help with the Simshed Wessex.

Have installed Simshed Wessex in FSX & it flys great.

Everything working the way it should with a couple of exceptions.

Wingfold will not fold blades & tail

Tailhook not operating windscreen wiper in VC panel

Anyone have a fix for these probs ?

Thanks
Baz

It's a FS2004 (FS9) model and unfortunately these 2 features are not FSX compatible.

Thanks Tom & Jim for getting back to me.

Jim I realise it's an FS9 model, but it's just that I had a couple of other FS9 aircraft working fine in FSX, namely
Kazunori Ito's Gannet & also the ALPHA BLEU CIEL CORSAIR F4U-7 .

The Wingfold & Tailhook operated as normal on the Corsair.

On the Gannet , wingfold & Tailhook operated as below;
/ = Tail hook Open/Shut
Shift+E = Canopy & Wingfold Open/Shut

Was hoping I may have been able to fiddle with something on the Wessex to get the folding mechanism & windscreen wiper working, but looks like that's not to be.

Thanks again,
Baz

I use wingfold and tailhook on my models (FS9) and that works fine in FS.X too *-)

In which case it must be something about the way Brian programmed the model (FSDS vs GMax maybe??????)

My FS9 Wessex has a functioning WS Wiper anfd Tail-Fold but my FSX version doesn't, so it's not specific to your PC Baz. Therefore it must be endemic within the model, and I suspect it will be something to do with the Version of FSDS that Brian authored it in??

Hi Jim,

Wessex WS wiper & Tailfold also work fine for me in FS9 It's just a prob in FSX, looks like I just have to live with it if I wish operate the Wessex in FSX, but I think I can put up with that.
Thanks again Jim.

Barry

Hi Folks

Baz -
If the Gannet is using SHIFT+E,
then it's using aircraft exit mechanism
to operate the Canopy & Wingfold Open/Shut.

Code: Select all

        <Entry>
            <Key>SHIFT+E</Key>
            <Down>TOGGLE_AIRCRAFT_EXIT</Down>
        </Entry>

The default FSX key-mapping does not include wingfold or tailhook, (Acceleration includes tailhook).
e.g.
The Acceleration F/A-18 model has wingfold built-in,
but won't work till you edit the key-mapping.

Has anyone tried the Wessex
after they'd mapped the FSX keys ?
Can't test myself due to videocard hardware issue.

Wingfold and tailhook are not assigned in FS9 either

Perhaps though, after using what ever the chosen keys for a long time, a change is made to FS.X forgetting it needs to be set up??

Just a thought *-)
