PSU Recommendation please..

Post by DaveB »

Hi Guy's :hello:

Went to turn the 'newest' pc on this morning and nowt happened. Pwr is getting to the psu bit it would appear to be going no further. The system turned itself off earlier in the week leaving me a bit suspicious and yesterday, it didn't seem keen on firing up so I guess the PSU has given up the ghost.

Can anyone recommend a suitable replacement that won't equal the cost of the national debt of an average sized African nation??

Currently running 2 sata drives, dvd recorder, Intel E6600 and an ATI HD2700XT. The ATI will soon be replaced by an nvidia 8800GT and I may up the CPU to 3ghz if Santa is good to me

EDIT..
Overclockers have this on offer at the mo. When it came out, it was around the £98 mark :-O Any good d'ya think *-)

Hi Dave,

I've had a Corsair HX620 for some time now and have no complaints.

Regards

Tks for that Guy's

Seems the HX series are a little more pricey.. 650/£96.99 750/£114.99 850/£134.99.. TX 750/£95.99 850/£106. I'll see what happens when I've had a beer later and lapsed into 'weak' mode

OK mate. Well.. I'm cheap so I'll nip back to that link and add to basket. Might spend what I've saved on another gig of Crucial ballistix. Tks for the HU

... IF I get there mate  Just before hitting the button, I thought I'd do a review search and all bar one comment I read from a chap who's had half a dozen of this make, the rest were saying 'What PSU are you using.. go for a Corsair, Antec e t c' I think Overclockers used to sell them but now don't which is a little unnerving :worried: Being a decent chap, I said to the missus last night.. 'My pwr supply has failed and I need to get a new one. Should I go for one at around £50 or for a known brand which is double the price?'. She said..'Go for the known brand.. it'll probably end up being your christmas present!' :-O
I won't print what my reply was
