HI Guys
Just noticed last night, two oddities (which have not happened previously)...
1: texture gap in the sky: a blank line between clouds at certain areas - sky and ground is there, but I see a 'gap' between the clouds.
2: shadows blinking in unison with nav beacons on cerain aircraft. (actually only noticed this on the SVC10 last night)..
Any ideas?
Couple of issues....?

Re: Couple of issues....?
Gaps in clouds -- try lowering the distance of visible clouds below 60 miles -- I used to ge this on ActiveSky because it will try and build clouds out to infinity (or as far as it is able to collect data) this slows the frame rate and rate at which FS loads clouds causing a "gap" so -- go to weather and lower the visible distance to about 40 miles.
Im not sure about the shadows but it seems to me this problem has been addressed in the past specifically on the VC10
Hope this helps a little
Leif

Re: Couple of issues....?
Cheers Guys....
Tony... I've tried to make a screenie, but with the 'on/off' effect, it always seems to capture a 'good' moment. I'll tinker with the clouds setting Leif - thanks for that.
On the subject, I don't know if it's conected, I was flying up toward Harlequin Lake a few days ago, and at about 15 miles from PAYA, the system beeped and FS closed down with no send/don't send. Since then I've twice tried to load a flight, starting at PAYA, and the load freezes at 41%.
I can get to PAYA from elsewhere, it seems it just won't load, and the VC10 shadow issue has been since that happened. I'll try deleting the CFG and see if a rebuild helps.

Re: Couple of issues....?
And that sounds like you have a scenery conflict...........again I added some rather nice mesh for the Hawaiian islands on my last reload of fs9 --- it didnt agree with some of Bill Melichar's work and I got a either a CTD or screenfreeze until I removed it again (I would rather have Mr Melichars excellent Scenery)
Hope that helps

There is always something a bit iffy about PAYA...something to do with that special tarmac that is an option there. However, there may also be a seasonal element in your scenery snag...Try changing the season and repeating what failed

Re: Couple of issues....?
HI Guys,
Peter, you seem to have nailed it: I selected real weather, 'SUMMER' - and it loaded without problem. (Bizarrely it was still snowing with 2 miles visibility).
After an exit, I reloaded in real weather, and left season as Spring.... crashed out at 41%. So it appears some spring texture is causing the issue.
I've not yet studied the VC10 flashing shadow again, but before I do, I'll rebuild the CFG.
Thanks Guys :flying:
