FSX Install Problem

Post by simondix »

Having just replaced the Motherboard, Processer and memory due to Motherboard failure I now have one capable of running FSX fairly well.

I have three Hard Drives. C which contains the OS etc and F + G.

I want to install FSX on drive F. Every time I point the Install to drive F it accepts it but then installs on drive C.

Advice please.

PS. sorry to everybody for going to FSX but I have had it for over a year so may as well use it occassionally

Have you a "program files" folder on that drive...?

If not you have to make one...it won't do it for you...!!!

Then put the target in manually on set up....and away you go.... :cpu:

I don't think that'll make any difference Tony but you never know. When I put FSX onto both pc's it resides on, the drives were bought specifically for FSX and nowt was on either before the install. Me thinks something else is afoot Watson  I never have any version of fsim in the dedicated folder/drive and the target name is always changed too. Call me awkward

Is there enough space on drive F for the install?

No joy on Program Files or anything. The box that shows the load progress when it first starts shows F but then it starts to remove files and then merrily loads it to C

Could I install on C and then move it to F afterwards?

No, Windows won't know you've moved it and still expect to find it on C.

Might be worth checking it hasn't partially installed, if so see if there's an option to uninstall in add/remove programmes. Could be worth running registry mechanic or similar to remove any references to it as well.

Nope... uninstall completely and reboot. Then try again. The only think I can think is that your trying to use an external disk or something?

You should get the dialogue box below when you click on the advanced button on the main screen.

Yes,
Thanks for the replies. 183 GB spare on the drive.

Get the advanced screen and browse OK. Shows the path as F ProgramFiles Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Left out punctuation and hashes in this post.

When I press the install it still installs on C
