HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry to shout guys, but a SERIOUS foulup seems to have occured. I was moving some images into a new folder I'd created on the desktop, which had been prenamed for archiving purposes, and then moved to a storage drive.
I moved the relevant images into the folder, and then moved a second folder with a few images into it also.
I then closed the source window, and the new folder.
All fine, except the new folder is nowhere to be found, yet bizarrely, the second folder I moved is on the desktop - empty.....
Can anyone suggest anything - as I'm tearing my hair out!!!!!

This is bizarre!!! I've located the folder by doing a 'search/all' and dragged the folder from the results window (which specified it was on the desktop) - back to the desktop, so all is now well. Question is - where did it go, and why was it not showing on the desktop even after a reboot and several refreshes - particularly as the search index points to it's correct (desktop) location???

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You may have to do a search of the entire drive for the parent folder name. I use a program called "Agent Ransack" for searches because it is a lot quicker than Microsofts built in search engine. In fact I turned off my indexing service entirely since it is fairly useless in my opinion.
Me being me, I often foul up doing drag and drop, especially in FS9. I can't find the folder and then find I accidentally dragged it into another folder in error. Ah well, can I plead being visually challenged?

All those options are selected. When moving files, I generally have the source and destination folders open on each half of the screen, then drag and drop. Now, I've done this with countless files in the past and never had an issue - thinking about it - TWO odd things. My desktop was clear of any folders bar the destination folder I was inputting to. Now, how on earth did the folder I dragged into the new folder end up on the desktop empty? - sorted now I am glad to say, but, the PC knew the location (C:/Users/Me/Desktop) - so how come I needed to search the blighter????

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It hadn't fallen off the edge of the desktop had it? I've only managed that by accidentally extracting a large zip to my desktop at which point Windows just keeps parking icons off the right of the screen but it may be possible in other scenarios.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HI Guys
Well, Tony, it is Vista, and Skip - that may well be the answer...... I'd checked all the obvious before posting (accidental deletion, moved into other folder (which could only have been into the source folder...) - so it seems it was bouncing around outside the monitor somewhere :o although windows tracked it the 'where it was supposed to be' - only I had to go hunting......
Thankfully, no damage done, but that was an eye-opener!
