Holger's south BC mesh

Post by forthbridge »

I'm immensely enjoying the Sandmann south BC mesh - in fact, I have found a new 'base' - Penticton.

Here we are waiting clearance (today's weather is IFR so I cleared it...)

We're basically heading north as we roll..

Gaining height over Okanagan lake, with Giant's head and Summerland to the port side here...
Image

Penticton's an interesting approach from either end - to the south it's Skaha lake and the hills behind...
Image

Meanwhile, I've adjused course slightly - now at 6500 feet and flanking Okanagan mountain - to starboard okanagan lake continues, and the Kelowna area..
Image

and a look back to Penticton as we turn for the 911 miles to PAYA..

Hmmm...I don't have that mesh Jim...Does it join up with the other Holger mesh at Misty Fjords?

Do you have a download pointer for that mesh Jim? ...I flew from Emma Field to McLeland Field yesterday and I was moaning to myself about the lack of Holger till I got to Bella Coola!

BTW...That flight was 923 nms with a headwind all the way of 35-45 knots and I landed with 11.1 gallons (turbo DF Piper Dakota GT version) :flying:

Hi Peter, it's bcmesh9d.zip on Avsim - I've not actually sussed what, if and where it joins onto anything, but depending on what terrain you have, you may also want to look at bcmeshp2.zip, and sebclod9.zip. :flying:

Probably a bit far away to join on to Misty Fjords since Penticton is in British Columbia, east of Vancouver.

OFFTOPIC
During a vacation at Penticton in May quite a few years back, there was a forest fire on a hill just like the one in screenshot 1. The coniferous trees were igniting like Roman candles! A really hot day since we had to have the air conditioning on in the RV. Yet two days previously at Banff we experienced rather a lot of snow - amazing how driving comparatively few miles could make so much difference.
The Okanagan has a lot of memories for me - some good, some not so good.

Ian
