Re: FS9 problems
Hi Alan,
When you say "been transfered to your new hard drive" you do realise that you cant simply copy a program directory from one disk to another. You need to install the application on the hard disk. The registry and other addons will still be looking in the place where FS9 was installed. Flight sim is just like any other PC program, you can simply move it from drive to drive. My advice would be to put it back for now and then let us know what you are trying to do and we can talk you through it.

Hi ben.
I was running out of memory on my original disc `C`,so i fitted a 250GB disc `F` into my computer, and i was going to put my fs9 and its add ons onto this along with my GMAX files.

Re: FS9 problems
Yes, thats fine, and indeed good practice, but you cant simply copy them and paste them onto the other drive. FS9 is a program so has to be installed (as is GMAX)

Re: FS9 problems
Hi Ben.
I have had a lot of problems trying to get the FS9 back onto disc c,where it started from,i will now have to do extensive testing,to see if it works as before, else i fear i may have screwed my fs9.
If this is the case, then i might just reload my fs9 and a few of my addons to the new disc f,and it will give me an excuse to weed out past addon chioce misstakes, like feelthere aircraft.
Regards alan.

Re: FS9 problems
As Ben says, moving a programme's files to another disk leaves it disconnected from where Windows expects to find it (based on entries in the registry).
There are some programmes that claim to be able to move applications from one hard disk to another (I read this yesterday in a magazine but some wine has passed since so cannot remember which).
But I would still prefer to start afresh with a new install - if nothing else it means that I have to figure out how I really, really wanted it to be set up.

Re: FS9 problems
Alan, best thing to do, is stop what you are doing and back everything up. Or at least your Aircrfat / gauges / textures / effects / sounds / addon scenery folders. Then you need to uninstall FS9 and reinstall it, specifying the new drive. So for example, if FS9 is currently on c:\program files\microsoft games\Flight simulator 9 and lets assume your new drive is D:, during the install change the default above to d:\program files\microsoft games\Flight simulator 9 (note the d needs to be changed to whatever your new drive is called) And then you need to reinstall anny addons you have. If you have a backup copy of the Aircrfat / gauges / textures / effects / sounds / addon scenery/ folders, this is usually quite straight forward and just a copy and paste job. but note that many payware products will need to be reinstalled for the original CD or download file

Hi Ben.
The system auto backs up frequently, but the restore failed to set things as they where yesterday,so i had to disconect from the web,and do things one file at a time,i am in the process of assessing the files,to see if any lasting damage as been done.
Then i might be able to get things done the way you suggest.
Looks like i have a lot of file testing ahead over christmas, what a bummer, why cant things be simple.
regards alan.

Alan, when you say the system "auto backs up" that kind of scares me. What are you using for backup?
