Tonks fine Air to Air shots have prompted me to post this little tinker..
Took the camera with me to Brooklands in order to take one particular shot (the exibit had been moved last week).. drove into Brooklands this morning and it had been moved back again making the shot I wanted impossible Undeterred.. I set off taking shots of wheels, bolts, door handles.. you know.. the things that come in useful from time to time and the Singapore 380 zapped over. Only had a 135mm lens on so not exactly suitable. Pity I'd put it away as the Emirates 380 went over about an hour later! Strange but these things DO sound different to most other things coming out of LHR so I find myself looking up more these days
Blimey. I'm way out of touch down here. I hadn't realised these things were regular visitors now. It hardly seems a couple of years since I was the CSD on a brand new 747-400 and was 'The Main Man'. Now it's last century technology - and so am I :-( ... It don't half happen quickly.
Anyway, thanks for depressing me, Dave. Perhaps they'll retire the last 744 to Filton (RR engines), and I'll get to potter about on it like you do with EP
I dunno if I was dissapointed when I first saw one. I expected it to be a Jumbo and then some but it's not.. more like a One-Eleven 200.. looks like it's run into something and compressed it a little We commented after the Emirates aircraft had gone over that the sound envelope was so small.. not like a One-Eleven I said.. not like a VC10 either said one of the other volunteers
