Hi folks
Can anyone help?
I have 2 installations of FS9 on my PC. The original (FS9), on the 'C' drive and a newer installation (FS9b) on my 'F' drive.
Both have run fine until the last day or two. Now FS9b is failing to see any new AFCAD additions, whilst FS9 can still be added to.
I've tried letting FS9b rebuild it's '.cfg' file but this has made no difference. I've also run registry and disc cleanup software (CCleaner).
One thing I did try recently, was Real Environment Pro (free with PCPilot), but I didn't like the water effects, so uninstalled it. This however only showed up in the trouble free FS9. FS9b was still showing the flight Environment effects installed earlier.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get FS9b to see new AFCAD files?
If I look in the 'Add / Remove Programs' file, it only shows one version of FS9, so if I try to uninstall, I may lose both.

Re: AFCAD / Scenery problem
You may have confused FS2004 by running 2 copies since it might have only one registry entry which somehow is being shared by both.
So an addition/removal to one may not be known to the other.
If you uninstall, it will probably remove the one it knows about, but leave the other one high and dry.
Not sure how you fix it.

Re: AFCAD / Scenery problem
Thanks Ian
Multiple installs of FS9 are not uncommon and have been dicussed here before (FSX may be a different matter).
My two installs have run side by side quite happily for months. It's only in the last few days that FS9b has been giving problems.
Cheers

Re: AFCAD / Scenery problem
Hi Ian
sorry if my previous reply seemed a bit abrupt - that wasn't intended.
Your suggestion that the two files may be sharing registry details does seem to fit to some degree. If I make changes to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\Scenery" and then open ""F:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9", the latter shows 'Building database for new scenery files' during startup.
If I make changes to "F:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\Scenery" and then open "F:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9" the same message is not displayed and new parking associated with the new AFCAD do not appear.
I have been using two installs of FS9 for some months, with no problems. Obviously, something has gone awry somewhere.
I've started backing up all of my AI (FS9b is set up for the 1980's), so if an uninstall is required then all is not lost.
Thanks for your suggestions

Re: AFCAD / Scenery problem
It looks like adding that new prog has caused the problem, did it have to be instaled twice to both FS9 set ups? when you uninstalled it did it give you the option of being removed from both again? It may have caused confusion with the registry.. try re installing it?

Re: AFCAD / Scenery problem
Thanks for the advice, guys.
I seem to have sorted it. I have reinstalled FS9 over the originals in both the 'C' and 'F' drives. This has retained all of my aircraft installations and AFCADs etc.
Cheers
