Hi Guys,
I've noticed a few more landing light penalties than usual plus of course the new penalty 'Parking brakes'. Regarding the parking brake penalty, you just have to remember to set your brakes for the end of the flight in the simulator and then go to the client to confirm end of flight there. Just get your head around 'Parking brake = end of flight in sim' (just like the 'old' days) and you shouldn't incur those penalties again.
The landing lights penalty has had a slight change as described in this thread and the only real change that affects us is the tightening of the point where you get dinged at FL100. If you are get dinged there you are unnecessarily putting yourself at risk of a penalty. Assuming the airport is at sea level with no terrain problems you can turn them off any point between 1001ft and FL100 - a 9000ft window of opportunity. On departure I turn my lights off when settled in the climb above 1000ft and on arrival I turn them on at the earliest opportunity once I have descended below FL100.
Regards
John

Not teaching anyone to suck eggs, don't forget if you have CH Pedals to take your feet off them when applying the park brake. I didn't on my 1-11 flight yesterday and turned the brakes off inadvertently when I pressed the end flight button. 5% Penalty incurred.
