Hi Nigel..

Aunty Beeb has blanked out the name on the original film for a few years now. As far as I'm aware.. none of the 'minority' channels has seen fit to follow suit :) It's a bit like Post War Germany isn't it. No mention of NAZI atrocities or Mr Hilter (misspell intentional) for years after. Are we going to have generations of children grow up believeing GG's dog was called 'Patch' or whatever it is they're going to call him just for the sake of PC?? (Union Jack underwear stowed until the next time) ;-)

I did hear some time ago that Guy's dog is to be called Trigger, oh well but I guess it was inevitable that it was going to upset some people.

I have been keenly searching the internet for over a year for any new news relating to this up and coming movie. One thing for certain is that with a bit of luck Peter Jackson will not be too "Hollywood" about this one and keep it as true to the record as possible, especially as his facisnation with the raids have been with him since a kid. I was worried a "U571" incident was on the cards, with B17's doing the raids from an USAAF base somewhere....and the engineering being dreamt up somewhere in Idaho or something lame like that.....

Peter Jackson will do it horribly Hollywood, I don't think I've ever seen a good Peter Jackson film. The only hope is Stephen Fry writing the script.

You know I went to a public screening of the original Dambusters the other month and no one batted an eyelid at the name. But I imagine the reaction in the states would be outrage, because I imagine (and it is just an assumption) that they'd never see it in the context of the time.

Kind regards

I think even in the context of the time the N word would be considered highly offensive by a large section of American society, they just couldn't do anything about it.

Well, if the Americans are offended by the name reggiN (Spelt backwards so as not to offend) :worried: then why on earth cannot the British Film Industry do it!! :@

You cannot change history just because of a name!!

Nigel.
