Appologies for the slight blurriness or oversharpening - my telephoto zoom finally died yesterday mid airshow and its replacement has been ordered this morning!

8th picture down, any idea why that name is just in front of the car's radiator?!? Any way great set of shots if that's with a duff lens you should have no problems!

The advertisement was "Osama Writing instruments" (see http://www.osama.com) Not sure if it means anything in Italian but in Arabic I think it simply means "Lion" and is quite a common name unfortunately!

Were the all cars part of a Paul Morgan display? Ivan Capelli let me down very badly in a sweepstake at the 1991 British GP in the #16 March!

I spoke to the guy who owned the cars but I didnt ask his name! They are all based at Sywell, theres a few 50's and 60s era cars too and an Indycar that looks more recent ~1990s. The Leyton House March-Judd is a CG901 so 1990 and apparently Capelli came close in that one. I think those cars were pretty good for about four seasons

Great photos Toby, I am old enough to remember both those F1 cars when they were new and 'state of the art'! The same can be said for the Optica, is it still working or just a museum exhibit nowadays?

Ah - I noticed the Indycar behind and assumed it was a '91 March, which was the first Ilmor powered F1 car, and the late Paul Morgan's aeroplane collection was based at Sywell (the Mor of Ilmor until the tragic Sea Fury accident - and I noticed flying over Sywell t'other day a hard runway seems to be finally appearing). He previously had worked for Cosworth - which I assumed the Lotus was.

All the clues, maybe I made the wrong connections!

Great Stuff Toby

Sywell always was a good venue for airshows. Which JPS Lotus is that? not a 71?
and you managed to catch two very old friends in there EVS the Airknocker C3 and
'LIW both of which I flew in many many moons ago.

I once flew into Sywell in EVS's sister EXD

This place does tend to stir up memories

HC I think you may be bang on. I didnt know about Paul Morgan but having looked him up there might be a slight family resemblance to the man I spoke to, not sure.
Interesting you mention Cosworth in addition to Ilmor - that and Marcos are both names created from portmanteaus of their founders' names I believe.
