First flight in the Avenger...

I thought I would try to share the my excitement over this first flight in the MAAM Avenger...This is the first time I've ever done a First flight, from and back onto a carrier, in any aeroplane...So I'm rather pleased with it:-

Great stuff Peter, just what I wanted to see and hear. I believe there is an FSX model in the pipeline, so obviously I will hold off for that, but its on the shopping list along with the Iris Vulcan.

By the way, I bet that weird Grumman wing folding is fun to watch! ;-)

Ummm got to get this one, having had the opportunity to sample the real thing on a number of occasions. (I've been trying to just have in my virtual hangar types that I've flown in personally, so this will definately go towards the front).

You could write a book about all the features and sounds in this package!...One thing that is interesting is that with the right manipulation of switches, you can load a torpedo in the bomb bay and then in flight you can drop it. You can also fire the guns with appropriate sounds...Bombs will come later.

The manual is an exquisitely detailed html doc with many coloured pictures and there is also a 90 page pdf file of the original Pilot's Handbook as revised 1st November 1944...They claim that the model is so accurate and so complete in its switch operation that you can fly it "By the Book"...And I believe them

I've been up in the loft and found the Pilots Notes for the Avenger...knew I had them somewhere. If its as accurate as you say Peter ( and I doubt a MAAM model is anything but ) its going to be fun seeing how the model and the notes match up. By the way, if you want any info from the pilots notes, let me know.

EDIT: Oops, read your post again, maybe you have the same thing. These notes are the Air Council ones, covering the Marks I & II ( Cyclone R-2600-8 engine ) and Mark III ( Cyclone R-2600-20 engine ). Last ammendment is dated 16th October 1945.
