DA Fokker 100 is OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by UNIT »

Hey Guys the Ditigtal Aviation F100 is now released and can be downloaded at Flight1, from the screen shots ive seen its a excellent craft.

erm just read the info while downloading its only released with the 2D cockpit. GRrrrrrrrrrr :-(

My personal opinion is that this should not have been released until the vc was ready, and stinks of the captain sim treatment, i.e (Nice visual model, then we add the rest of the bits later if we can be bothered).

It states its for FSX and FS9 but at the bottom of the download page states this is not FSX/DX10 compatible at this stage.????

This is the quote from Flight1,

"Flight One Software, in partnership with Digital Aviation is excited to release Digital Aviation's Fokker 70-100 Simulation featuring the Fokker 70 and 100 Jet Airliners. This product is simultaneously released for both FSX and FS2004.

The main goal for this product is to simulate every system in the Fokker 70 and 100 aircraft. 4 years of development so far have made this one of the most advanced simulations to date. This plane must be flown very much like the real world version that is flying with many airlines today.

Please note that currently this product is released only with 2D panel configurations, so therefore we consider this an "Early Adopters" version. There is no Virtual Cockpit in this release, as development has focused highly on the aircraft and flight modeling systems. Also, the FSX version is not compatible with the DX10 preview setting. However, Digital Aviation understands the desire for Virtual Cockpits and DX10 preview compatibility, and they are working on an updated FSX DX10 compatible model now with VC, as well as a VC version for FS9. These would all be a free update to all Early Adopter purchasers should it become available.

All early adopters can get the product now for $49.95 USD. The price will go up to the regular price for any Virtual Cockpit/DX10 compatible version. So if you get the early release, you would not have to pay the higher price later. Also, the FSX and FS9 version can be had at a single price. You can buy one version you get the other for no additional charge.

Why was an Early Adopters version released? This product has been in demand in Europe for some time now, and because of this, it has prompted us to release this version instead of waiting additional time for the new model features. We feel many will be glad that this version is now available".

I agree, UNIT. You would think that Flight1 would have waited for the VC to be completed before releasing the F100. :-( I don't own the Flight1 model but here are a couple of comparison shots of the Project Fokker bird along side of the Flight1 release. Maybe simmers who are really into systems will purchase the F100. :dunno:

yeah not much difference. its a shame since people like myself who love the fokker jets have waited so long for the freeware model to get a vc then told that the f70/100 was going payware and to have vc. then now after this very very long wait to findout the payware version is to be released with a 2d cockpit only, is a right kick in the teeth :'(

Thanks for the HU, Unit!

I'm definitely a big fan of systems simulations...so the Fokker appeals to me much more than the freeware model. But I'm afraid that I'd insist on a VC before purchasing...particularly for a $50 pricetag. They guarantee a free update for a VC in the future, but I think I'll save my money until then.

The previews of the VC on the Digital Aviation website look very promising, though.

Garry summed it up perfectly from my point of view. I run 6 screens with 2 Matrox TH2GOs and never use the virtual cockpit - except on the 748 when it's useful to pan the view out of the cockpit left/right. Generally I know within a few moments whether I actually like a payware aircraft or whether it's just been a waste of money, and after a couple of hours with it today the F100 staying!

I've modified the Fokker panel now to run across 4 screens and it is just excellent. Frame rates are great, the PFD and ND are very smooth, gauges stay sharp when expanded, and I just love the weather radar overlay. Oh and as FS2004 is supposed to be a flightsim it's fun to hand fly it as well  . It's hard work at the moment because the logic on this thing is very different to a Boeing, but unless I come across a serious glitch I think after 4/5-odd years I've finally found the replacement for the trusty PMDG NG. Can't stand the Germanic virtual F/O who sounds like he's half asleep, but that's easy to remedy. :-#

IMHO comparing those 2 panel screenshots is like comparing chalk and cheese.

Am I missing something here? It doesn't look any better than the Project Fokker freeware... and that comes with the Fokker 70 too!

Please tell me theres more to this?

Indeed Ben

That's why I was asking how it compares to the project Fokker

Differences aren't obvious :dunno:

Seems a bit odd

Indeed Garry. The only thing the PF was missing was the VC for those who like that. I was't a fan in FS9, but now if the model has one its the only way I fly. Don't think there is many of us who can afford 6 screens, and even if we could, I don't know of many SWMBO who would tolerate it!

The project Fokker model was one of the best addons at the time and to my mind is still up there, although she won't run in FSX.

If this new one is a proper FSX model it WOULD work with DX10. It does sound like yet another FS9 model being hashed to fit FSX, and this simply doesn't work. Also at $49 for "Early Adopters" I'd hate to see the price of the final release.

The Fokker 70 / 100 series is an aircraft I really like, not least ast the wings were build down the road at Shorts. It would be great to see someone do it justice... but even if it were perfect $49 is definately on the pricy side.

Seems a lot for something not a true model

I don't think the punters minds FS.X versions of FS.9 model as long as it is made clear...then the user chooses.
