Re: Shuttle Launch
Looked like a beautiful launch.
I think we'll get some great science from the ESA's Columbus laboratory module http://www.esa.int/SPECIALS/Columbus/index.html being flown up to the ISS.

Re: Shuttle Launch
They're probably doing the OMS-2 (Orbital Maneuvering System Burn #2). When the shuttle launches, the orbit is well below that of the station. The OMS-2 burn raises the maximum height of the orbit to just below the height of the station. They will then do an OMS-3 burn to circularize the orbit, which will allow them to slowly catch the station and dock on Sunday or Monday (can't remember right now and too lazy to look it up).bobdawkins wrote:watched it GMT time 19:30-20:00 for 2 or 3 hrs approximate time as I live in the UK, am watching at the moment, something about a burn !!
