This was part of my birthday present :)

So of course I rushed to a certain payware site and Bought a certain cold war British fighter!!!!! |-)

Wrong!!!!

What i did do was pickup a copy of Radar Contact 4.3 -- And PeteP THANK YOU
Its a marvellous bit of kit for those who havnt tried it - and well worth the 44 bucks just to get rid of
those AWFUL midwestern controllers everywhere you go - Right now as I speak Im herding a Caribou
from Bali to Hassanuddin in Indonesia and Im not exactly suer how RC does it - but the departure controller
at Bali had a distinct Indian accent and the Bali High controller has a dutch accent :)

Nice bit of kit - oh yes and the Cath Pac 747 that passed me inbound a while back the FO had an English accent
Im impressed - nice software - nice support - if you HATE FSATC like I do but like to fly in an ATC enviorment
This is for you

And NO they didnt knock anyhting for this shameless plug

Got that for Christmas a couple of years back (I think I started with version 2 way back near the turn of the century  ).

Never could stand the default ATC, but that just sits in the background doing its job.

There was a small panel around that could be set up to emulate the key strokes required which made it very easy to use. Can't find it out there now, but I have it somewhere on a CD. Might be of use.

Cheers Ian

I'm really enjoying it - it is such a total improvement over FSATC

Careful, Leif, you're making me blush! :tab: Seriously, I'm glad you're enjoying Radar Contact and thanks for taking the time to say so.

One thing I would like to make clear, though, just in case anyone thinks we have "regionalised" controller voices in RC, getting the appropriate accents at Bali was just random chance - you're just as likely to get the same controllers appearing at O'Hare or Heathrow or wherever you may venture on your next flight. It's not that the mechanism for regionalisation doesn't exist in RC - it does - but we just don't have enough different controller-nationality voice sets to make it viable except in the US and, perhaps, the UK. The voices are switchable and their nationalities are shown so you can preselect which ones will be used - it just cuts down the number of controllers RC has to select from so, on a long flight, you could get duplicates if you switch some voices off.

I'm biased, of course, but I agree completely that especially when flying outside the US, it knocks spots of the standard FS ATC in terms of phraseology and procedures.

All the best
Pete

Thanks for pointing out Pete - I did get lucky I guess
I flew from North Vegas to Fresno last night to try out the US stuff and sorry your totally wrong RC is three streets ahead of FSATC and going away....flew the Fuzzy2 Departure from Vegas and the controllers were right there on the ball - dumb question, does it look at AI traffic and just freeze them or actually give commands that contribute to avoidance coming out of Vegas it stopped me at Fl180 on the way to Fl240 and then told me to climb again couldnt figure out why until I saw the AI traffic crossing
about 2000 feet higher - my imagination or did the program actually do that???

again as I said 44 bucks well spent and if it brings it to the attention of new folks so much the better

Leif

reveals all!

And I've found the panel - just need to find some instructions. I don't have RC installed since the new PCs were assembled (so need to get a new key) otherwise I'd do some screenshots and simple notes.

Not sure if it reveals all

From what i got JD was saying NO it doesnt - so I can only assume that RC stopped my climb for whatever reason and the crossing traffic was a fluke

never mind still having a blast with it

Leif

About to try it from a controlled airport to an uncontrolled one
