Great aircraft, so thought I'd share my low flypast with you, its about midday at FJDG, previous Screenshot's show my engine test, Screenshots taken with FS recorder, (Great tool to work with) (Hope there's not too many for you Admin)

A very small number were fitted with the same Allison turbo-props as the first C-130's..well similar

There were 4 Connies converted with turboprops by the US Navy. 2 were flown by the Navy and 2 by the US Air Force.

BTW Garry, the YC-121F used the T34 turboprop from the C-133 and rated at just shy of 6000SHP. The T56 used on the C-130 was tested on the YC-131C (Convair 340/400) and was the precursor of the CV-580 (which in US military service was the C-131H) and was rated at 3500SHP (later models are rated at 4000+). Both aircraft (the YC-131C and YC-121F) were flown by the same squadron in the US Air Force as part of proving the technology of turboprops for use in the "line" aircraft like the C-133 and C-130.
