Every now and again, when I click on an icon on the desktop to open a programme, my PC display goes BLACK and no keyboard short cuts or anything will cure it! The only recovery is a re-boot which works fine without any 'warning' messages from windows. The PC itself makes no odd noise or sounds any alarms. I was wondering if a faulty RAM stick may be to blame
I have also had this snag in the time I have used the latest ATI video drivers, could that be the trouble?
Thanks Jim, the Cnt/alt/del was the shortcut that I hoped would work. I will keep it until it really mucks things up, as the new drivers are a great improvement in FS9!
That sounds very similar to a problem I had with the ATI Drivers recently, I'd just lose all of the screen for no apparant reason.
The way I solved it was to not intstall everything on offer from ATI. e.g the catalyst software etc, but JUST the driver on its own, with nothing else.
Trev that happened to me a while back........It was a loosely seated Graphics card in the PCI slot.....I removed it and blew air into the slot then reseated it and it never recurred....
Just a thought mate...?
