Brian,

What is the story with Rapid share? Can you force them to pull the files?

Yes, if you can give them the reference. Are you going to be able to get this one pulled Brian?

Why don't you use an activation key similar to the way the UK2000 Extreem stuff is done... or is that easy to get arround? (p.s. I have no idea what is involved in setting up a system like that)

I think the only "foolproof" method of doing it is to have each copy individually encrypted and have people e-mail in a product ID that is generated by the software when it installs, and then someone at Skysim has to manually convert the productID into a key, pretty much in the way Radar Contact do things. Even then there is no guarantee as you'll always get someone who'll physically remove protection from the product or even install the product and manually sift through their FS9\FSX folder and simply zip it all up.

It's hard to believe there are so many cheap bastards out there at times.

I remember the first time I went looking for a particular model that had just been released, and googled it out of laziness - there were four torrent sites on the google page ahead of the vendors site. I nearly put a "how do they get away with it post" on here - but then realised someone might answer it with info I'd rather not know. I guess it's the flip side of bandits packaging freeware and selling it on ebay.

p.s. I still don't want to know how they do it.

Errr...judging by Mapquest, he's only about a 10 minute ride from my house. Want me to gather a few Philly mafia fellas and go take care of our " little problem"?

Ashame. These sorts of things cost us all in the end...

All payware products will get uploaded to file sharing sites sooner or later, so the only way of limiting it is to report the files to the site it's uploaded to (not possible with torrents, for obvious reasons!). Of course, it'll just get uploaded again in time, but still...
