Registry Cleaner
In Trevs post regarding FSX I gave him a link for registry cleaners via Computer Active, some free - some payware. Have been looking at them but do not really know which one to try. What worries me is that last time I downloaded a free ware product (Spybot) it really screwed my restore function and do not want to find myself in a position whereby another freebie causes havoc with my system!!
Can any-one advise on a good registry cleaner even if it means paying.
Many thanks
Nigel.

Nigel,
I use Registry Mechanic at least once a week...It always finds something to do and I'm delighted with it :flying:

Re: Registry Cleaner
Many thanks Peter, is that a download or can it be purchased from a store?

Re: Registry Cleaner
I'll add my endorsement - somebody suggested it to me - cleaned up my system a treat and works excellently - even sends you email once a week to tell you your system is ok if your one that doesnt pay attention to it.....for what its worth I run Kaspersky as my Anti-virus/antispy -- and they work beautifully in
tandem - it appears (and I could be wrong) if RM finds something it doesnt like it gives it to Kaspersky to deal with automatically - all my spam problems
have gone bye bye - well worth the money

Re: Registry Cleaner
I hate to have to pay to re-install FSX (its stuck neither on nor off my PC), but I fear that that will be the only safe way of doing it.
I ported FS9 over from a slave HD when this PC was made last yea and I am worried that a registry clean may decide that FS9 is an orphan too and clean it, as it was not installed from fresh on that drive. I may just not even bother with FSX and let the registry entries lie there.

Re: Registry Cleaner
Trev, if you are going to use Registry Mechanic then it has a restore facility, have not really had time to look at it as will be going to work soon but am sure that you can set a restore on it and if you find that after cleaning you registry FS9 has also been cleaned up you can restore it. Just make sure that you do a restore point prior to cleaning though.
