Re: Pushback using MS default controls: Detailed Explanation
While I have never had too much trouble with pushback, knowing when the wheels would turn was always a WAG, your explanation clears all that up. Thanks for an excellent explanation.
Re: Pushback using MS default controls: Detailed Explanation
I got fed up with using the push back facility as on selecting the keystroke (in my case having set the F9 to push back) I always thought that you had to press the 1 or 2 at the same time, invariably when I did the damned aircraft used to continue without turning!! :doho:
Thanks Joe, next time I get into the cockpit I will give your detailed instructions a go.
Nigel.

Re: Pushback using MS default controls: Detailed Explanation
I'm most grateful to hear you have found this helpful.
I have to say I was quite ecstatic the night that I got the first insight into the mystery
of why the aircraft had not turned when I had commanded it to. ( for years you know , like what 10 ? going back to FS98.)
With that little hint I was able to build a methodology using it as a bench mark and then write the article.
Of course there are gauges one can install to help aid the pushback.
but in my mind , not very realistic,
Aircraft don’t have them in the real world. they require a trolly
Again I'm very glad I have made some contribution to the flightsim community.

Very nice find Joe, you might want to publish it over at fsdeveloper as well?
It is always a nice feeling when you (more or less accidentally) resolve some of the "inner mysteries" in FS

Thanks Dan
I have had it published at AVSIM , Flight Sim
And in a magazine in Ireland called PC pilots Ireland
Terry Mcgee sent the magazine to me recently, from Dublin
next are simouthouse and Flightsimulatorguide.com
and with your recomondation FSdeveloper
I'll have to take full credit as I had been purposefully studying it for two days
working the problems out. Like why it won't turn if you change views at certian times
or why some AC don't turn on the mark because the gear contact points are incorrectly placed..ect
.

Re: Pushback using MS default controls: Detailed Explanation
Thanks for that Joe
I for one had just about given up on it because it caused more hassle that it was worth.
At least understanding it will help getting it to run properly
Garry
PS recieved your message regards this I have PM'd a reply
