Farnborough 1964 - Colour Pictures

I'm afraid that this set of slides from the 1964 Farnborough show is - visually at least - rather disappointing when compared to the stunning 1962 batch. I didn't realise how badly degraded the film emulsion has become until I started to scan them, with large yellow blotches on many of them and, in some cases, the original colour has all but disappeared. However, I think the subject matter is still interesting enough to be worth viewing so I hope you enjoy them.

This door was only on the second four of the eight aircraft

I will, Derek. There must be around a thousand or so slides in the collection ranging from the late 50s to the late 70s that I still have to sort through. I don't yet know how many are suitable/of interest and I've agreed that I'll only show a proportion of them but that should still leave several month's worth to upload - I thought I'd spread them out a bit over the coming weeks rather than feed you too many slices of chocolate cake at once! CHEERS

Ooh, how close to the runway you could get in those days!! That closeness over-rides the lesser quality. And as mensioned, the Pelican shot where they are 'stacking' is excellent!

Just got home and saw them - Pete you just go from strength to strength - What discoloration and spotting?????
I was to busy feasting my eyes - Love the beagle 242 - I have to admit its probably one of the respectable looking light twins
ever designed - shame that Pipers Pickup truck (Aztec) and Cessnas spindle shanks did it out of a job. - It would look at home and in keeping on a 2007 apron as it did in 1964 - The 1-11 shots made my computer shake as did the Lightning pass

Got to ask......where did you find this goldmine????

Just a guess, but as I mentioned before, the Tangmere Museum (where Pete is a staff member) has a gem of a library. All sorts of stuff has been donated over the years, even some rare books turn up for sale in the foyer as the museum has several copies including signed first editions. Onthe other hand he may have found them at a boot sale!
