Aviation Paintings of the Year 2007

Post by hobby »

Admission is free to this art show!! The catalogue costs £4.00 and contains coloured miniatures of some of the paintings.

The exhibition is being held in the Mall Galleries, London and the nearest tube station is Liecester Square. Dates are 24th-29th July. Staged by the Guild of Aviation Artists you may see their website at: http://www.agva.org.uk.

There are 391 paintings and drawings of aircraft to examine. These range from the most delicate of early aircraft through WW1 and the inter-war years to the present day with both civil and military aircraft portrayed. Truly there is something for everyone and animal lovers may wish to closely examine the kneeling camel in a painting entitled 'Travellers.' This year the Vulcan seems to have inspired many artists although my favourite was a rear port quarter view of two Mustangs 'heading out' in very close formation. Regretably there are no Hawker Seahawks but there is a very fine painting of the prototype Hunter. My companion today voted for a wonderful painting of a Constellation in flight as his favourite. You can vote for your own favourite by attending this show.

I commend this show to all forum members. Do try to attend.

I am not a member of the GAvA nor a sponsor, I just have a keen lifelong interest in all aspects of aviation.
