Google Earth Users - RAF Bases in UK

Post by LuckyJim »

For those who use Google Earth this thread and KMZ download shows all current and past RAF bases in the UK.

Seems pretty accurate and the info is great.

I was prompted to post this by 'skeatings' post about halcyon days at Blackbushe Aerodrome, previously RAF Blackbushe.

Load up this KMZ and have a look at how many airfields were based in the UK. Zoom out and you can hardly see the terrain for airfields.

I am new here so apologies if this is inappropriate. Mind you it may make some developer type chap model a few of these old airfields.

And skeatings (Steve), if you read this thread, I envy your childhood.

As I mentioned in another thread, I've spent the last couple of nights doing non British Isles RAF airfields!...

Looks good. Needs a key for all the symbols though...

Hi Folks

Excellent find LuckyJim.
I had a less detailed one previously.

Just for info.
Add both KMZ's from 1st & 2nd posts.

KMZ 1 is RNAS stations.
KMZ 2 is RAF stations.

I've never felt so frustrated....... died so frequently/spectacularly/or needlessly....... yet had so much fun, in a long time.
