Re: Instant Scenery V2
Dave,
Excuse me if you already know all this, but you mentioned objects being wrong sizes......
When you access objects in IS, and have the red wireframe box round them, you can right click to bring up the "Object properties" sub-screen. Apart from changing the heading, you can scale the thing up or down, and adjust the elevation, (but not bank in FSX). If something's too big or too small, just move the SCALE slider to see the effect.
I'll look at some photos and try to find details for the textures. The ones I used are small grabs from my Barra Airport textures.

The tower at Cookridge in Leeds is a damn site taller than that Dave, used to live on the estate below. There is also a fire station alonside it now.

Hiya Dave, the Leeds tower should be easy enough to mod. I'll see what can be done

Re: Instant Scenery V2
Thanks Mike and Graham
Yes.. it does look a tad stunted.. barely high enough to break the surrounding hills for 'line of sight' comms
Rgr on the scaling in IS too Mike. I don't use the darned prog enough these days and forget many of the things it can do
Work beckons again so I'll take a break from proceedings for now

Re: Instant Scenery V2
How does this look Dave?
It's the same model, rescaled & the tower increased in height.

I've included a placement bgl, but you can place it with IS if you prefer.
Credits to Kevin Ball for the original model.

OK, the re-scaling I understand, but....
May I ask how you manage to modify somebody else's work?
How do you get to the "bones" of it to do that?

Yo Mike
I think DG uses MCX to open then save the model in the required format (3DS in his case) then he can tweak the model using Max. From then on, it's all plain sailing

Re: Instant Scenery V2
Thank you Dave & Dave.
Now, DaveB..
I've changed the radome to geodesic, and added more meaningful textures.
Reason the first version used a conventional sphere was that the 320 face geodesic looked awful; now it's about 80 faces.
The new file has replaced the old, so if you'd like it, same link as before: http://airspeedsflyingvisit.webplus.net/simdls.html
