Classic British Flight Sim

Hi guys , that St Kilda looks as real as books, tv , and one overflight show . Does anyone know if Rockall is in fs or any addons ( we're fs9 only ) ? That would challenge anyones hovering skills .
Dave the PT6 engines on a Twotter are similar to the default KingAir . Prop levers fully forward ( fine or max rpm ) for t/o , ldg ( well g/a really ) so that they can get a good bite on the air at slow speeds , when airborne power back to climb , props back to slow them down ( quieter ) , in the cruise power back again props back a bit more . On approach props fully forward ( fine ) , power as necessary ; also similar in use to the default Baron. The PT 126/7 engs on ATP are basically blown up / doubled PT6s , so eng controls are similar . Reverse / Beta ? mode we used to keep speed down when taxying as carbon brakes even used gently would snatch ( on or off and not even symmetrically , horrible ). Dart , Tynes , Garretts are single lever engs. and have different method of pitch control , but the PT is probably the most built T-prop .

Yup.. I'm used to flying piston props this way but not turbo props. As soon as I realised what the swag was.. no prob.. other than as mentioned, the levers in the VC are a devil to get at so it doesn't encourage much fiddling

Flew the Nimrod from Kinloss to Benbecula then swapped for the Super Puma for the onward flight to St Kilda. What an amazing place it is.. stuck out there in the middle of nowhere. Folk live there too Call this a mercy flight hence the use of a Bristow/Bond helicopter..





Never been there in FS so thanks Chris for the HU.. another one ticked off. Can't see me going there often. It's a long way to hang onto a helicopter

I'll have a look for Rockall Dave. There are a number of landable lighthouses in FS (FS9 and FSX) which I can only land on from spot view

No Rockall as far as I can see mate. Darned good job too as I'd not be flying out into the Atlantic to land on a big brick!

if you fancy a challenge, try these....

They would be a challenge in the default EH101 too.. it swings around like a good'un. A bigger challenge would be to try it in the ND AS350. The default EH101 feels rock steady by comparison

I hope to live long enough to get the rigs installed.. well, some of em anyway. I'm not fussed about getting the entire set.. a few off Scotland will do I've registered at ODG (I think I've probably re-registered at ODG as DaveB was already in use Sri Paul) but that's as far as I've got

The beauty of FSX (and I guess P3D too) is being able to place 'n' after panel= against all the ones you don't want to see. I've found this very handy recently

Great tip Dave. I didnt know you could do that. I've been deleting the panel folder and then deleting the 'panel=' from the aircraft config

Just a thought, any chance of a 'Tips' topic in the Developers Corner to colate all these very useful tips and knowledge?

It'd be a difficult thing to set up mate even though I agree.. it'd also be a good idea. Many of the things we know are picked up along the way and eventually, you've no recollection of where they came from and you don't really know you know anything above and beyond what everyone else knows if that makes sense. It's only when someone asks a question, you either know the answer or you don't. As Chris Tarrant says on 'Millionaire'.. the answers are easy if you know them

Dave , shame about Rockall , think the name says it all I believe some mad Marine in a kayak stayed over night back in the '60s to make sure it was claimed for the UK .
The rigs are great fun even in fs 9 with a gazelle , probably get 1 in 3 to land and stay put rather than slide overboard . and that's on a good day .
