Hi David

That has been done by my nephew and most cases the drivers were the most up to date and in most of the cases where a new driver was loaded I had to go back to the old ones. :wall:

This machine was running perfectly OK before the new HD was added and the drivers it had before with everything else it had before should run the same, but it doesn't

It also will not play any movies from DVD or CD, it won't recognise the CD ROM or one of the front USB ports. When I load codecs it reports on each codec in turn as already installed. When it names a codec as missing I download it and it tell me it's already installed.

...but here's the real problem.

I can't set aside hours to look into it as I can only sit at it form minuets........perhaps on a good day half an hour.

This is why I've been completely in active since the laptop went down in April, not that I was very active up until then

Well, one way or another, it seems to me that time to make a fresh start is needed, otherwise your computer will just keep limping on. Perhaps make it a task for a rainy summer's day and/or give it to your nephew to do...

It's a fresh start that caused the problems

It was fine before the power suply went and corrupted a file in windows causing it to corrupt.

Something will have to happen though as it can't go on like this.

But it still would make little odds at them moment as I can't sit at it anyway :'(
