Yes, I believe PeterM does use Avast, as do I. I have been very happy with it and the price is certainly right.
Yes, my wife and I both use Avast and it really is excellent...It is so excellent that I have paid for mine but Nica uses the freeware version. I used it for years before paying, but felt that it was so excellent that I wished to support it. The best thing I ever did was to rid our machines of the Norton and McAfee bloatware :flying:

How many PC's does Kaspersky cover??
I got their Internet Security Suite (i.e. Anti Virus and Firewall) with a three computer license from the website, I think it was in a drop down list when you selected the license payment option. I'm guessing it may not be apparent until you buy it.
