More likely an error in the chart...I trained at Feltwell in 1951 and the Var was only 7 degrees west then.

Peter : I never thought of that . This was, in fact, the KLM generated chart with a spot height error on it which led to the sad end of Captain Parmentier in a Constellation at Prestwick on 20th October 1954, and thus another error is entirely possible , as the whole thing was copied - complete with error - from a wartime US Army chart
