Ohh. Speaking of only painting one side of Aircraft, I've just had a flashback for a second there.

Who remembers this dreadful crime..?

That was business though as part of a BA/SIA joint operation

Not playtime.

There was also a Ferench prototype Concorde that was AFR one side BA the other.

And the first A-310 was half Lufthansa half Swissair.

I shall have to be the odd one out and admit to thinking Concorde actually looked quite good in SIA colours.

If only some other airlines had purchased a few...

Hi Rob

I think Eddie means the fact that it was only one side was a crime not the SIA livery

I liked it was well.

This is the AA retro livery that Toby mentioned. I think it works well - probably because the Boeing 737-800 still has a similar shape to the 707 .......if you screw up your eyes and look to the side a bit when the sun goes down.....

I've just done another flight in the 747 classic and look what I found when I zoomed in - on both sides!

I had to double-check that the logo didn't read BAOC

Speaking of retro, the Americans do it as second nature. When I was flying with BA, several of the well established US stations referred to us as BOAC (pronounced bowack) well into the 90s. We once checked into a Boston Hotel, off- schedule, and the HOTAC (Hotel Accomodation) authorisation sheet clearly referred to us as Imperial! How's that for retro?

"Boenig". I love it. Will have to remember that for future use. Could be worse Ian. The Duke of Richmond & Gordon once checked into a hotel in NY and it seemed no reservation had been made. He usually preferred to go under his untitled name of "Mr Lennox" but no booking could be found. When he asked them to try again under his title they replied "Ah yes, a suite for the Duke of Richmond with an adjoining room for Gordon".

Such disrespect for a true classic, :-({|=

Great looking livery! I agree it would not look as good on a 777, not just that it never wore those colours but like its big twin cousins from airbus, they are just so damn boring.

I always though the 747 was best looking American jetliner to take to the air.
