Hi Dm

I didn't know about that thread on Avsim

I just popped across and had a look.

Seems it's all your fault :huf:

What an arrogant so and so sounding off without checking facts.

There are many systems and many setting so not all will be the same.
I know that on mine if the mips are there it is blurred

But what's this about 200x100 and why is it often implied that DXT3 gets rid of blurs when they really mean mips.

I can't remember where I saw about that utility but it repaces some file in FS to make metal more shiny. I wonder if it makes the light side shiny as at the moment it is shiniest where the light is not hitting it.

Going back to you work

32bit mipped is ideal because as you say it is all there and these things are easily removed but as you say once compressed that's it.

So the user can modifiy to his setting and if he doesn't know what his machine needs, well perhaps it is about time he did know.

Thank you very much Mr. Maltby and Garry!

I'll try and remove the mips and I'll let you know how I get on!

Oh, and Mr. Maltby - Thank you very very much for the Trident in the first place! The VC is great!

I'll just mention this here because I didn't notice anyone mentioning it...If you use mips and suffer a little blurring of the aircraft textures, zoom in close with several taps of the "+" key and then hit "backspace" to go back to default zoom...The textures should now appear sharp

Garry.

I think it changes the evironment mapping replacing the "Envmap.bmp" file. Who know what else it changes?

There were several versions.

Yo that's the one

I thought straight away I don't want to know

Things are done and then something like this comes along and to improve a few perhaps lacking items send the rest into dissarray.

That's why I couldn't remember it. I had sent it into my brains ignore folder.

It's a bit like resetting the brightness and contrast on you TV for a couple of poor films.

It might work well,, but I'm sur not going to be the one finding out. I get enough strange things happening without that.

Thanks

Why would anyone want to do that?
