Hi Tony,

that's a Intel 'B' cpu, so less than a lowly i3. Its similar to the old celerons, so i would think it will be much good for FSX.

No.. not on a 2.4ghz CPU be it dualcore or otherwise. It will run FSX but not well.. far from it unfortunately.

Tony.. you may (or may not) have read the saga of me trying to get FSX to stop OOMing by using an 'under used' Win7 (64-bit) pc fitted with a QX6700 (that's a quad core 2.66gig) plugged to a GTX460 card (1gb) and 4gig of system ram. I stopped the OOM's but at 2.66gig.. the CPU was running FSX a lot slower than my E8400 (3gig dualcore). Overclocking the quad to 2.96gig has got it closer but in 'real' terms.. it still doesn't run as well as the 3gig dualcore.
The 64-bit OS + QX6700 has 3 distinct speed advantages..
A) The speed at which the OS loads
B) The speed at which FSX loads and
C) The greater system ram available to FSX helps prevent OOM's
Other than this.. the WinXP(32-bit)/E8400/GTX560Ti actually runs the sim better. The downside is FSX is liable to OOM on the 32-bit OS. 8) I've run FSX across a number of hardware setups from an AMDXP2400, AMDXP3200, Intel Q6600 to the current pair.. the E8400 and QX6700 and in the final conclusion.. CPU speed wins every time. As I said above.. FSX will run on your mates system but I hope he's easlily pleased ;)

In reality.. if he's new to FS, then FSX would be the obvious choice even though FS9 would probably run better on that setup :cpu:

Should that be "will NOT be much good for FSX" ??
