Quick screenie of DM's 1-11 in DX10 mode.
Using the new DX10 Fixer program most FS9 aircraft show up normally. You still get the usual issue with props and canopies disappearing behind clouds, but at least they don't appear white now! Maybe my imagination, but they don't seem to drag the frame rates down now either.
Just took of from UK2000 Heathrow at dusk, AI traffic at 30%, most of the scenery sliders over at full and I was getting around 27fps (locked at 30) looking back in spot view towards the airport. Same view in DX9 and I'd be lucky to get over 20.

Hi Dave, clicked on your link for the DX10 fixer program, but it says product not found.
Is this all you are using to run in DX10 mode or do you have the various tweaks in addition to this program?
cheers

Hi Ben
Scroll down to the 3rd post - explains all regarding DX10 fixer.
Also there are many good threads here regarding DX10 that you might find useful.

Looks like there was a cock-up in the installer. The default installation folder was something like "Program Files/DX10Fixer", but there was some text which seemed to indicate that it should be installed into the FSX folder. If you did that, then decided to un-install it, it would wipe out the FSX folder
FlightSimStore are saying it was their fault, as they made the actual installation package, and not the developers fault.
Hopefully an updated version should be available soon. I know Steve has a couple of bug fixes to do as well, so I expect they will be in the update.
As regarding extra tweaks, there will always be some to get the most out of any FSX installation, but each system is different, so it's hard to say what's needed and what isn't.
The only thing that needs to be set up outside of FSX are the anti-aliasing settings. How you do that depends on if you have an nVidia or AMD card. Some settings work with DX10, and some don't. It can be a bit confusing.

I'll definitely give it a go when its available again. How much was it Dave?

It was $33 Australian Dollars, which converted to about £20.
Many thought is was a bit expensive, and I admit it was more that I was expecting. Personally I think it's worth it, but it is a fair amount to pay out if you decide that DX10 is not for you. Probably worth while trying the free patches at Avsim first. They basically get DX10 working fine with FSX native stuff, but won't fix port-over issues.

Looks like the program is back on sale.

Don't know if there have been any updates apart from the installer being fixed.

Not sure about DX10

Tried it and the only thing that appears to have improved was the graphics although could not use Ricks 748 as it turned out a ghostly white!!
Went back to DX9 to compare performance then again back to DX10 - certainly no performance increase though could be due to my computer being only an i3.
Tried variations of settings on the graphic card but came to the conclusion that DX9 performs better - does swapping over to DX10 and back to DX9 cause any issues as found that my performance has decreased somewhat i.e. fps....any ideas?
Nigel.

FS9 aircraft will turn white, unless you use the new DX10 Fixer tool I linked to earlier. I don't have the 748 installed, but the 780 works OK for me.
Regarding performance, I'm seeing approx 10% increase in frame rates over DX9 using like-for-like settings, although it does vary between aircraft and some do seem to work better under DX9.
If you find DX9 works better for you, then I'd say stick with that.
