Well.. you wouldn't have thought that had you seen my landing at Barra in the Catalina. The landing was fine.. the stopping wasn't

I have the 780 in FSX but not the Budgie at the mo.. primarily because I'm fed up with doing thumbnails. I'll drag it over though

Dave, I have all of the budgie thumbnails, intact, I'm sure i put them into the package that's in the library.

In that case, I should have got my copy from the library
TBH, it's gonna be a waste of bandwidth downloading the lot again just to get some thumbnails. I'll take a snap or so every now and again and build the collection up
In the meantime.. a cheeky little wind kept my passengers hanging onto their sickbags enroute Benbecula-Stornoway this afternoon..
My landing was interesting. Not much seemed to be happening so I landed on the wrong runway with a 14kt wind up my chuff. Nose gear and LH gear on the deck for sometime before I dare let go and put the RH side down. My next flight for 'enthusiasts' is already fully booked

That's a gorgeous piccy of the Otter, Dave. Very nice, indeed.
I've got the Aerosoft one, is it the same? I use it fairly often as there are a couple of Canadian paints that suit the NW.

Yes.. it's the latest addition to my hangar. Not too many Brit paints for it as far as I can see but Loganair/Flybe was the main one I wanted anyway so job done

Despite it's age, it's still a fair model and you do get a lot for your outlay. Wish the interior was darker.. something that should have been sorted at first beta but there you go. As you know, the instrument lighting add's interior lighting but turning it on or off has no effect on internal brightness (cabin or flightdeck) when viewed from outside.
I closed down at Benbecula and had a cuppa. When I restarted, the props had gone into some wierd position and the aircraft wouldn't stay stopped on the parking brakes. I released em and off I went around the airfield at a great rate of knots. I cut the fuel to stop it and started them up once more. It was still doing it's own thing but I took off anyway.. as you do

I'd have gone all the way to Stornoway like this had I not started up Active Sky which told me it needed to update it's database and forced me to close FSX down before IT could be sorted

Probably the first time I've used it since the new FSX install so perhaps it got a bit lost. Anyhoo.. ASA and the Twotter sorted themselves out.. the result you see above
It's a great aircraft for flying just about anywhere as there are so many paints for it. OK.. you get the ubiquitous BA wobbly tail paint (bor
ing) but there's this one and a couple of Scillonian paints too.. very similar to DG's Islander paints

The beauty of FSX (and I guess P3D too) is being able to place 'n' after panel= against all the ones you don't want to see. I've found this very handy recently
Btw.. if anyone with all the 748 thumbnails could lob em all into a zip and post em, I'd be mighty O-bliged. No need to worry about naming them for each aircraft.. I can do that

On the subject of the Aerosoft TwotterX.. I was just enjoying an early morning flight from Stornoway to Kirkwall in the Loganair/Flybe livery 300 when I noticed the infidel who did the paint put the underwing reg on the wrong way round.. that is.. it read the right way up looking from behind the aircraft, not looking toward it (front to rear)

Didn't expect to be getting the brushes out quite so soon!
Anyway.. for those who have this paint and haven't noticed the reg (why not!!!) or for those thinking of getting it.. use the replacement 6_T texture I've uploaded in this post..

Hi Dave, if you have Scottflight a trip to St Kilda would be a nice change of scenery and flight... But no landing strip only heli's or float planes (if your daring)

Yes.. I have Scotflight and it'd had me banging my head against a wall for a day trying to find out why there are no Orkney's included in the FSX versions. I've since found that later versions.. those made to be compatible with the newer GenX areas now have the Orkney's re-introduced but I only have vol 4.. the Western Isles so in theory, should stick with Photo v 2.1. Whilst searching, I also found they'd released a 'Highlands and Islands' package on dvd which is also compatible with GenX. I'm a bit miffed to be honest and considering trying to drag the Orkney's out of FS9.
Anyways.. I'm still in Scotland (Kinloss) so will take a look at St Kilda. Been trying to get re-acquainted with the ND Super Puma (took me an hour to get it started

) and I've yet to try the Twotter with floats so I'll go and have a looksee. I found the Outer Skerries is a NO-GO in the Twotter yesterday. Not sure what the hell WILL get in there that's not a helicopter
EDIT: I see what you mean Chris..
Can't recall ever going there before. I've seen St Kilda in the list of places sure but didn't know where it was and never thought to look. Nice landing in the Beech don't ya think?

Obviously, I didn't land there.. this was a prelim' look so I'd know what to expect

As an aside to my comment on the Twotters sounds.. I twigged what was happening yesterday. It's control setup is unusual for a turbo prop.. unusual to me who's more used to Darts and Tynes.. in that it has an RPM lever (RPM levers) to control prop pitch. The model should really be flown using these and by doing so, you get the rise and fall in sound pitch you expect. Flying it just off the throttle, this doesn't happen. Thing is, the levers are on the OHP and they're a bugger to get at sometimes.. the throttle levers being in the way. Never mind
