Request : Wessex stablemates?
I was wandering if anyone knew of any other British helicopters of a vintage quality (or, to be honest, of any nation of a decent vintage) that would sit nicely in my hangar next to the shiny new Simshed Wessex? I've really gotten the bug for rotary flying again thanks to Brians latest creation.

Hi Chris,
Have you tried Brian's Puma?? Ok, so it's still on active service but it's been there for donkies
Flies very nice and looks the part too.
Another fave of mine (probably my favourite rotary to fly) is another old stalwart.. the Gazelle. It was updated for 2004 and you can get RAF and Army paints for it. Have a look over at Hovercontrol or here.. http://www.simviation.com/fs2004helicopters22.htm
It's also worth noting that of all the helicopters I've tried.. the Gazelle's is probably the most accurate soundset of em all

Oh, and I think there might be a repaint available for it at UKMIL.!AndyG wrote:How about the Bell 47 from Jean-Marie Mermaz?

A couple of others, with a Brit connection, that sprang to mind.
The Hiller OH-23 from Tim Conrad

A Whirlwind HAR 10 from J Lucariny

Greg Pepper's S-51 Dragonfly (would need a repaint though)

There's another old US helo with a Brit connection.. the Bell47J2 Float though I'm not sure if this is still available (but I can make it available if you like)
Remember the 'original' James Bond film Thunderball?? The model has a Thunderball paint so you can pretend to go looking for Vulcans on the seabed

Actually if you REALLY wanted one with an English connection - you could use the land version of the 47J paint it all over PO box red and apply the registration G-APTH - It belonged to Autair helicopters and appeared frequently in TV and Film - including having a ladder dropped through its rotor in "Arabesque" courtesy of Gregory Peck dropping Jan Patcha (One of Autairs pilots) and the baddies in the River Ebbehere's another old US helo with a Brit connection.. the Bell47J2 Float though I'm not sure if this is still available (but I can make it available if you like) Smile Remember the 'original' James Bond film Thunderball??
