Trident 3B G-AWZK Progress photos (56k warning)

Post by TobyV »

Neil has been working hard on 'ZK and with some new people in the management at MAN we are hoping for a decision on rebuild very soon.

In the meantime heres some photos to show whats been going on:

Image
Cockpit virtually complete, save for the standby horizon which we have now sourced.

Image
Neil has been refurbishing the undercarriage. Here you can see repainted wheels and cleaned up tyres. In the background are the two ex-Cosfrod sets of steps which Neil has repainted back into BEA colours.

Image
In the rear cabin is a display of Trident photos, information, manuals and other artifacts such as the Smiths SEP5 flight controller unit.

Image
It could almost be the early 70s again! Neil has obtained red seat covers for all the seats, fitted new black carpet, removed the overhead bin doors and repainted all armrests etc to 'terracotta' to revert the cabin to original BEA spec.

Image
Each seat now has a reproduced BEA-era safety card.

Image
The cabin (cf with original 1970s photo below)

Image
A very large Trident 1 model on loan to us from the BA archive. Heaters and dehumidifiers have been installed hence the large pipe which ejects moist air through a window aperture (I think thats what it does anyway   )

Image
Original 1970s BEA interior. The seat covers we have are the later BA flower pattern and the carpet should be a very dark brown rather than black but we had to use the closest match colours/fabrics we could obtain.

A credit to you all Toby. Let's hope you get the full go ahead and we eventually can see the "finished article."

Very nice! I had a quick look around the outside when I went down to see the big Antonov.

A wonderful accomplishment so far!

However, I hope a decision on re-assembly is made soon Toby.

The weather is turning against the project and surely it would be advantageous to rebuild before the days draw even shorter.

Are there any indications as to when the powers-that-be are likely to decide?

Well Ive just got back from running the parents up to manchester for their flight to Nice and I poped in to have a look myself again. I saw somebody working on her but didnt have the oportunity to have a chat. I was looking at the engines and I noticed that the intake bullet (is that the term for it?) is pointed, I thought they were rounded, or at least they were on ARPH.
I took a few pics of ZK the others but I didnt realise that my camera was on the lowest quality settings :curse:
