FS9 CTD at Aldergrove

Post by alemaobaiano »

Does anyone have any idea why I always get a CTD flying into Aldergrove?

It's happened in the Budge and now in the Viscount. I don't have any add-on scenery for that part of the world, no duplicate AFCADs, it doesn't matter if I'm on Flynet or not, and yet it always happens on that route, usually on finals or sometimes on the runway.

I can fly into Belfast City without problem, but Aldergrove seems to be a black hole for me.

Hane you by anychance changed the AFCAD or updated any scenary around that area just before this...they seem to cause untold problems at times.

I have the EGAC and EGAA addon scenery and no problems. Strange one, but I'm temped to agree with Garry on this, sounds like some sort of afcad issue. :worried:

Hi Leif

I have a crashing problem on the Eastern US seaboard...so I had to switch off my addons for that area and also over an area of France.

So if I could have a link as well please that sounds very useful

The surest way to check for a duplicate is to start AFCAD 2.21...It is free... now click the little open folder icon and wait while it searches out its airports. Now type in EGAA into the ICAO ident slot and click search...It should come up with either one "Stock" or one "Stock" and one "Mod"...If so then there is no problem there.

If you have more than two the open the mod ones by selecting them one at a time. The airfield map will open but if you go top left to "File" and click and choose "Properties" the exact name of the file and the path to it will be at the bottom of the resultant window.

It has been known for scenery designers to name files outside the AFCAD conventions, so don't be surprised if the filename does NOT contain "AF2".

The easiest way to deal with a duplicate easily is to rename it like this example:-

Change "AF2_EGAA.bgl" to "AF2_EGAA.bgl.dis".

This will make your disabled file stand out in a list and it will be easy to activate again.

One more thing to bear in mind is that a duplicate AFCAD on a NEARBY airfield could also cause a CTD.

Thanks Pete
Thats EXACTLY what I use and it works a charm - first time I did it I had some afcads that were three or four times overlayed :)

Ill post a link to it when I get home

Thanks for the answers folks.

I've run ScanAFD (http://www.nwlink.com/~erog/) and Aldergrove is totally standard, no add-ons and the original AFCAD file so it isn't anything there that's causing the problem.

However, Pete nailed it. I did find a duplicate for Prestwick, the only one in that part of the world, I renamed it and now Aldergrove works fine
