Now what the crunch is...and reading the last couple of posts confirms my worries... WE ARE going to get forced into FSX due to developers aiming towards that variant of FS. It will then do one of two things, split the FS community into FS9 or FSX lovers, with the results that it could destroy what we already have, ie:healthy development payware and free ware, or kill FS9 altogether.
I recall FS98 days I was very much against FS2000 as we know now that it was poor and a brave but fruitless attempt to get it better. FS2K2 came along and put it right.
FSX is doing what FS2000 did to FS98... Only I fear it will have amore serious result.
I have read all the pro's and cons and again I will stay with FS9 until FSX is fully sorted....I think that will be for a few years yet

FWIW....yes l have an opinion and l have an ^&*hole as well, but y'all not being treated to the latter this evening

.....thats a valid point about FSx support, however l think its a little extreme, you can draw parallels with CFS3, it split the community, however the winner was not the new upstart, it was the old hound that every one went back to.
I suspect that FSx / FS9 will produce the same results, for all its warts FS9 appears to be the most rounded package on the civil FS line up and to be fair many of these new fangly effects used in FSx model many will not notice or even care about.
l've been talking to many developers and nearly all will dual develop for the foreseeable future, some may never develop for FSx, some will as they fear being left behind, but being left behind in this case may not be a bad thing.
What ever happens theres nowt anyone here can say or do that will alter a thing, the future will be written by a sub conscious community movement, it will naturally migrate where its going and we will all follow along, its no good anyone getting het up over it, the out come will be what will be.
Personally l'm under a bit of pressure to develop for it...so far l have resisted being assimilated

, l think theres enough interest for the next couple of years in FS9 for a slow decline in production, ohh l'll dabble in the odd one or two for FSx....like l did for CFS3, but at the end of the day its what punters want that drives many, so far there are not many 'demanding' FSx yet and the longer that goes on the worse it'll be for FSx l think.
