Jet Provost G-SOAF/425 (Sorry)

Post by Quixoticish »

I know this is a fictional as it's actually a Mk82.A Strikemaster but I've been fascinated by this scheme since I saw it at the Leuchars airshow a few years ago, I think it just really suits the airframe.

I'm having a few problems however with certain parts.

The first bit I'm running into problems with is the text on the front of the fuselage here:

Does anyone have any close up shots of it so it can be deciphered?

The second bit is the yellow warning arrow. Does anyone have any ideas what the text on it says, and what indeed is that strange round thing it appears to be pointing at?

Comments/criticism welcome please. I'm backing off on the alpha quite a bit as I was mid-tinker when I grabbed that screenshot. I also loathe to reduce the size of the Omani crest on the tail anymore as all of the detail starts to go and it looks rather fuzzy.

Once again apologies for it being a fictional, I just love the scheme and couldn't resist.

Thanks Andy. I've e-mailed the folks who own G-SOAF to see if they can provide some photographs, you never know.

It should say something like "Jettison Canopy "..or "Rescue"...the strange round thing is a 'break glass' which the firecrew will break to gain access to the Canopy jettison lanyard, here's a better view of it

Incidentally this is a stop gap until we see Rick's Strikemaster, then it'll be getting ported straight across of course.

Thanks for that Jason, those images do seem to confirm that at least part of the yellow warning text is in arabic.

As for the script on the other side of the nose, I've no idea. I've an inkling that it may be a small excerpt from the Qur'an, I'll have to wait and see if the folks from North Wales Military Aviation Services get back to me. If they don't then I'll just package both a repaint without text and a repaint with fictional/best guess text.

Unless someone knows of some close ups of both sides of the nose. :poke:
