Another great article Mark. You really ought to send some of these to the major aviation magazines to see if any of them are interested in running them.
If it's of much interest (which I doubt), I approved the addition of the CV-990A into the FlyNET database today, so there's definitely VA interest in the aircraft. It's to be seen if it can make a profit on the FlyNET system however.

YEAH .... I had considered that .... ages ago .... but .... figured I'd much rather just use realworld history to generate interest in virtual aviation for the benefit of the FS communityYou really ought to send some of these to the major aviation magazines to see if any of them are interested in running them.

I know you think you understand what you thought I said but what you thought you heard is not what I meant !
That's on Rob's Classic British Files website isn't it ?Have you considered putting them on Wikipedia then?
I didn't know I could !
If you guys want to post these features then you're most welcome to do so .... I'll send the artcles (already configured with illustrations) to you later during the week .... and you can post hem at leisure .... if you wish.

I flew with my parents from Dhahran to Beruit on a MEA CV990, in January 1970, on an evening flight. I was only 14 then, so didn't appreciate the a/c for what it was :-({|=
The only thing that struck me as being strange was the 2+3 seating arrangement. I don't particularly remember anything unique with regard to engine noise or anything like that.
Thanks for bringing back the memories Mark.
edit: the years are dimming my memory, it was in January 1971, not 1970.

I'm a fiddler by nature .... I try to be a perfectionist
Just edited "CONVAIR CLALAMITY (part 2) - THE CV990" with each of the following extensions
1. Added imagery of Tony's brand new dual THAI/SAS liveried CV990-A from 1962 .... thanks for this particular rare-bird Tony
2. Added a small section (text and imagery) relating BALAIR .... which leased a CV990-A from parent company SWISSAIR.
3. Added another small section (text and imagery) relating to lesser known GALAXY AIRLINES whom were among the last civil operators to fly the CV990-A
I think this feature/article's about finished now !
