Islander Panel

Post by Effoh »

Hi Gents,

Hope I've posted this in the right area.

I've been trying out Marcel Kuhnt's Islander over the last few days with a view to a type rating. Whilst the included panel is good, I thought I'd try Horst Paetzold's photorealistic one at AVSIM.
Whilst the 2d displays perfectly, I cannot get gauges to show in the 3d virtual cockpit - all I get is a messed up bitmap similar to the one shown in the Trislander thread. Has anyone else tried this panel and had a similar experience? If so, how did you cure it?

Many thanks,

Rgds,

Colin

Hi COlin

I can't comment on this particular set up but what I can say is the 2D panel is added on and can be changed where as the VC is a part of the model and can't be fiddled with.

I think....this is the route of you problem.

Hi Garry,

Thanks for that - Horst does claim to have modified the 3d (bitmaps/gauges) to allow it to look exactly like his 2d and his screenshots certainly show the same - never mind, I'll have another fiddle with it when I get home.

Thanks again!

Hi Colin,

I tried this too and got what you did! Sadly, I just can't get into the Islander FD at all which is a crying shame. I'll take another look for you a bit later and if it all comes well.. I'll let you know what I found (or of course if you sort it first, post your findings here)

Hi Colin

In that case it must simply be a case of things in wrong places.

Never a quick answer to these unless someone else has been there before.

I run Marcels Trislander without mods and the VC on that does not display correctly.

To be fair they are not the easiest of models to install or fiddle with and they do seem to get rather upset easily.

:dunno:

I hope you can get sorted

If the VC gauges were working before, the best solution is to open the original Panel.cfg file and copy all of the parts related to the VC to the new panel and delete anything that's in there now. This will result in both working properly.

I had a quick gander this afternoon and it does look a bit effed. I only put the b. panel on one aircraft (the other.. German registered one with the original panel is fine) and what I see is a totally new set of gauges but for the old panel. There must be a panel bmp there somewhere but I can't find it for the life of me.

Will look again later as the update was done by Mark Beaumont and he's not drawn to making mistakes

Chris - already tried that - no joy

DaveB - you're seeing the same as me it seems and I can't find the *.bmp file either!

Garry,

My last post in

http://cbfsim.org/cb-bb/viewtopic.php?t=7624

indicated where the problem with the Trislander VC lays.

Probably similar for the Islander - I will have a look at that as well.
