On the Thunder & Lightning website I noticed this comment alongside some book recommendations:

"V-Bombers by Tim Laming. Recent revelations mean we can no longer advise purchase of this volume."

"Buccaneer - The Last British Bomber by Tim Laming. Recent revelations mean we can no longer advise purchase of this volume"

As I have copies of both these books I am curious what this is all about.

If it is not for publication please PM me.

A quick search on Google reveals this...
A New Book by Tim Laming

Tim has e-mailed Tony giving him information on his new proposed book.
Anyone with anything useful he could use, then contact Tim.

Copy of Tim's e-mail to Tony.

Hi

Thanks very much for your email.
The new book is being produced by Crecy Publishing, and it will be a pretty ambitious affair - the same as their big book on the Blenheim. Hopefully, it should enable me to produce what will be a "definitive" book on the Vulcan, and one which can also include some coverage of XH558's return to the sky later this year.

Although much of the material will naturally be based on my earlier book which you have, I have the opportunity to add lots more, now that the passage of time has allowed us to explore weaponry, delivery techniques, wartime routes and so on. Likewise, I will also have sufficient space to include lots of first-hand accounts from former air and ground crew, so that the book is a much better read than the usual "dry" history publications.

So, that's the plan, and I'm basically on the search for stories, anecdotes, information, reports, photographs, and anything else connected with the Vulcan. If you can help, or if I could put-out a request to your group etc, that would be very helpful. I do want to make this book the "last word" on the subject, as I doubt if anyone else is likely to produce another decent book on the Vulcan, so I want to make sure it's as good as it possibly can be!

Best wishes

Tim McLelland (Tim Laming)
IIRC, Tim McLelland was very active on several forums regarding XH558 recently. No idea about the revelations though, but I had no idea Tim McL and Tim L were one and the same...

A lot of people write under a pseudonym, he might have good reasons for doing this (therefore perhaps he might not like you using his real name on a public forum?). I think his hte Vulcan book I have, I suppose that (I havent read it recently) the current version does not include that much about returning XH558 to flight :dunno:

I know who Tim Laming is, I'm asking what the revelations are. I had already googled it before I asked here.

Toby his true ident is already mentioned here:-
