Does your utility do straight shots or does it always change the aircraft to a VC 10?

Garry,

I did a quick check after Dan's response and found exactly what you said.

So the old memory is not quite gone yet  .

I remembered that the number of thrust reversers was a quick check of whether a Standard or Super was flying over.

Hi Ian

It would have been in those days and becasue of angle it was not always easy to tell if it was a long or a short one.

So the reversers would have been a quick check

I think it was early seventies they were removed some BOAC with BA titles seem to have only two by then.

Early seventies would make sense - I had left the Heathrow area to venture north of Watford by then (univeristy) and hence would not have noticed the change.

And it was the 30, 000 feet overflights where the number of thrust reversers were helpful.
